There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino gaming is illegal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel complex that contains many amenities on top of the casino, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
